CLEVELAND, Ohio — Athletes and others were recognized at the 26th Greater Cleveland Sports Awards, presented by Ancora and Minutemen Workforce Solutions.
The recipients of the male and female high school athlete of the year awards were Saniyah Hall from Spire Academy and Marcus Johnson, a standout from Garfield Heights.
Hall is in her final year of high school and is having an exceptional season, as she added another accomplishment to her career. “It feels amazing, honored to be here,” she elaborated. She is also on her way to the Big Ten Conference, having committed to USC in November of 2025.
“These last four years have been a journey,” said Hall after being asked about her high school journey as she started at Laurel in Shaker Heights, then went to prep school at Montverde in Florida, and eventually landed at Spire Academy. “I remember going into my junior year, moving schools, I thought it was going to be crazy.”As she wants the younger girls to stay confident on the same journey. “Don’t be afraid of a different enviroment just embrace it and be you.”…
