Audubon State Park announces passing of animal ambassador screech owl

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) — John James Audubon State Park has announced that its Eastern Screech Owl animal ambassador has passed away.

Owlivia was a resident with the state park for over 13 years. While park officials don’t know how old she was, she was first found as an injured adult in Whitesville in December 2012. She became a permanent resident after her eye had to be surgency removed.

Owlivia was a part of the park’s raptor program, a teaching program that allows the park to house non-releasable raptors for educational purposes. John James Audubon State Park is the only Kentucky State Park with a Raptor program…
