A Lakeland tax preparer has been sentenced to 57 months in prison and ordered to pay the IRS nearly $13 million in restitution.
U.S. District Judge Mary S. Scriven of the Middle District of Florida sentenced Jeffrey Dixon after he pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and aiding and assisting in the filing of false and fraudulent tax returns. Dixon pleaded guilty on Aug. 5.
As part of the sentence, the court also entered an order of forfeiture of more than $1 million, the proceeds of the criminal conduct, and to pay restitution of nearly $13 million to the IRS…
