Foley to begin construction on 200‑mph shelter for emergency crews

FOLEY, Ala. (WKRG) — First responders in Foley are set to receive a safe room.

According to a city news release, the new safe room will be near where the Public Works campus is currently under construction on Poplar Street.

The room will provide shelter to over 200 first responders during hurricanes, with it being designed to withstand winds of up to 200 miles per hour, according to the city release.
