Antioch’s Chinatown takes shape with opening of grocery store

ANTIOCH, Tenn. (WKRN) — The first piece of Antioch’s new Chinatown, a grocery store, opened Friday, and there are more projects in the works.

Following a traditional Chinese dragon dance and a ribbon cutting, the Pan-Asia Supermarket opened its doors.

“We are the most diverse part of the city, so a Chinatown makes perfect sense to be here,” Metro Councilmember for District 32, Joy Styles, said. “It’s the first of its kind not only in Nashville, but in the entire state of Tennessee.”

“Four percent of our population is Asian-American,” Metro Councilmember for District 17, Terry Vo, said. “That is over 25,000 people who want a place to go grocery shopping, who want a place to gather.”…
