Savannah’s Playground on track to open later this month

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — A popular playground in The Market Common which is also the state’s largest disability accessible site is due to re-open later this month, city officials said.

Savannah’s Playground closed in mid-October for $2 million worth of upgrades including new synthetic turf, sun shades and equipment improvements.

The city said the upgrades are the first major renovation since the park opened in 2016. Named for Savannah Thompson — a local girl with Williams syndrome — the park is one of the state’s largest disability-accessible playgrounds…
