I understand that many retention ponds throughout The Villages are currently very low – some nearly dried up – due to reduced rainfall. However, during a recent visit to the newer southern sections, including Eastport and Middleton, I was astonished by how full the retention ponds appeared to be.
This raises an obvious question: if all areas of The Villages receive the same rainfall, why do the newer sections—particularly those where homes are still for sale—have retention ponds that are brimming with water, while older sections do not?
Over the past several weeks, I have found myself worrying about the possibility of retention ponds near my home drying up completely, along with the unpleasant odors and health concerns that would result. At the very least, it seems reasonable that water levels across all retention ponds should be more evenly balanced, rather than some areas appearing well-supplied while others are left to dry out…
