Savannah Arts Academy walkout targets ICE after Minnesota fatalities

The line of Savannah Arts Academy students marching around Tiedeman Park across from the school was so long, that the chants were broken into sections, since they couldn’t hear Lupita Carillo-Trujilo’s megaphone at the front. Among those chants were “NO HATE, NO FEAR, ICE HAS NO BUSINESS HERE,” at the front, and “HEY HEY, HO HO, ICE HAS GOT TO GO” in another section and so on.

On a slowly warming Friday afternoon in Savannah, Saannah Arts Academy students walked out of class to protest the actions of federal immigration enforcements agents in Minneapolis that results in the deaths of RenĂ©e Good and Alex Pretti. By Carillo-Trujilos’, who organized it, estimation, about half of Savannah Arts student population walked out of class that day.

“This is so much more than I expected, and so I’m honestly so happy, and so, so honored that all of my fellow classmates believe the same thing that I do,” Carillo-Trujilo said. “I know not many parents are okay with their students walking out of class.”…
