One Math Teacher at Page Decided to Make Enjoying the Snow a Grade Opportunity

With the recent snow interruption to the 2025-26 school year, students have been confined to a remote day with little activity that isn’t on screen. Many people likely didn’t even go out into the snow because of their work and how busy they have been. Here at Page, one teacher decided to change that.

Mr. Westbrook is a math teacher here at Page who teaches Math 1, Math 2, and IB Math: Interpretations and Applications. For his IB class he decided to get students out into the snow to enjoy themselves.

The assignment was quite simple and it was for students to go out into the snow and enjoy themselves by building a snowman, sledding, making a snow angel, or any other winter activity and submit a picture of them doing that. This got his students that are feeling cabin fever to go out and enjoy something that comes to Greensboro rarely. This extra credit opportunity gave his students extra points on their next test.
