JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Mississippi Baptist Medical Center is taking heart care on the road. On Friday, hospital leaders joined the Greater Jackson Chamber to officially launch the state’s first mobile cardiovascular unit.
The Baptist Heart Mobile Cardiovascular Unit will travel throughout Central Mississippi, offering quick but comprehensive heart and vascular screenings. Patients can choose from basic or advanced packages that include heart risk evaluations, EKGs, ankle-brachial index testing and abdominal aorta ultrasounds.

“The Baptist Heart Mobile Cardiovascular Unit will be a game changer for busy professionals and at-risk and underserved individuals in Central Mississippi,” said Delon Thornhill, director of Cardiovascular Service, Mississippi Baptist Medical Center. “With 10- to 30-minutes screening sessions, those most at-risk for heart disease will be able to access meaningful and effective heart and vascular screenings where they live and work, further reducing barriers to better health, early detection and lifesaving medical care.”
