Lake Thunderbird State Park in Norman, Oklahoma is that kind of place – a 1,874-acre playground of shimmering water and rustling oak trees that somehow manages to fly under the radar despite being just a short drive from Oklahoma City.
I’m convinced that whoever named this place “Thunderbird” knew exactly what they were doing – creating expectations of something mythical, powerful, and slightly mysterious.
