Deputy, Loveland K-9 injured during DUI arrest

A deputy and Loveland police dog were injured during a Feb. 5 DUI arrest, according to the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office.

The agency says the incident began around 7:45 p.m. when one of its deputies initiated a traffic stop on a pickup truck for a suspected DUI near West 45th Street and North Grant Avenue in Loveland.

The driver, identified by police as a 50-year-old Greeley man, reportedly drove to a nearby apartment complex, exited the truck and started to walk away after speaking with the deputy for a few minutes, according to a Larimer County Sheriff’s Office Facebook post about the arrest.
