Honolulu police are investigating a tense encounter near Kakaako after a 14-year-old girl reported that two people tried to lure her into a car while she was walking home on Thursday.
The incident happened in front of 500 Keawe Street, where the pair in a sedan allegedly waved the teen over, offered her a ride, and tried to befriend her. She refused, kept walking, and was not hurt. The girl reported what happened to school staff the next day, and police were contacted.
According to KITV, the suspects were in a silver or black sedan when they tried to coax the teen into the vehicle by offering her a ride and asking to be friends. The outlet reported that police were notified via a 911 call and confirmed that no injuries were reported. Officials urged anyone with information to come forward.
