NY weather: Weather alert issued for gusty winds in part of New York until Saturday midday

A weather alert was issued by the National Weather Service on Saturday at 8 a.m. for gusty winds until noon for Herkimer, Fulton, Montgomery, Schoharie, Schenectady, Saratoga, Albany, Rensselaer and Columbia counties.

“Current observations show isolated wind gusts up to 50 mph across parts of the Capital District, Helderbergs and the Mohawk Valley this morning, and these gusts are expected to spread eastward into the Berkshires and the north central Taconics. In addition to blowing snow reducing visibility and cold wind chills, a few downed trees or limbs resulting in power outages may be possible with these winds,” states the weather service.
