Once-a-week irrigation schedule issued for St. Pete amid drought

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) — A water shortage order with a once-a-week irrigation schedule has been issued to the city of St. Petersburg amid an ongoing drought.

Due to below-normal rainfall and declining water resource levels, the Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD) has issued a modified phase 2 water shortage order that goes into effect on Sunday.

To help conserve water, the city will be temporarily shifting to a watering schedule of once a week for properties using portable or private water sources. Reclaimed water use is not restricted, but it is recommended that watering occur only once or twice a week…
