SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — San Francisco police officers responding to a vehicle collision violated department policy when they failed to properly investigate the crash as a suspected DUI, a newly released report from the San Francisco Department of Police Accountability (DPA) shows.
According to the complaint, which was dated April 12, 2025, the victim driver in the crash and a witness reported to dispatchers that the other involved driver was likely intoxicated based on his behavior and the odor of alcohol.
Body-worn camera footage from the responding officers showed the other driver exhibiting “clear signs” of intoxication, according to the DPA report that was posted online this week.
