Tampa Bay family urges kids to get screened after teen survives cardiac arrest

PASCO COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — A Pasco County family is thankful their 13-year-old is alive after sudden cardiac arrest, which experts said is rare, and that only one in ten children survive.

Now, the family is encouraging others to get their children screened for any heart conditions.

Jonathan Jackson is in 8th grade, and in December, he went through the unthinkable. At just 13, he went into cardiac arrest and has been fighting hard ever since to get his life back to normal.
