DMV introduces major changes to point system

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Starting Monday, Feb. 16, several driving offenses will increase in the amount of points on a New York State driver’s license.

Erie County Clerk Mickey Kearns told WIVB News 4 these reforms intend to make roadways safer across the state.

The changes to the State’s Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) Driver Point System adjusts the time frame in which action can be taken against violators; moving from 11 points in an 18-month span, to 10 points in 24 months…
