The No. 1 Penn State wrestling team won its 84th consecutive dual meet on Friday night as it took out No. 10 Michigan 38-3 at the Crisler Center in Ann Arbor. The Nittany Lions won five bouts by technical fall and nine overall en route to their latest Big Ten win. Head coach Cael Sanderson’s team improves to 13-0 on the year, while Michigan falls to 8-4.
Luke Lilledhal kicked things off with a technical fall at 125 pounds, and they’d get similar wins from Marcus Blaze at 133, Mitchel Mesenbrink at 165, Levi Haines at 174, and Josh Barr at 197. Freshman Nate Desmond, filling in for starter Braeden Davis at 141 pounds, earned a comeback 8-5 decision over Michigan All-American Dylan Ragusin, with a takedown 20 seconds into sudden victory. And, in another close bout, Penn State freshman PJ Duke erased a 9-7 deficit in the third period to beat No. 13 Cam Catraboke by decision, 12-10, at 157 pounds.
