Racine man charged, accused of stealing Tosa squad car, fleeing police and striking officers

WAUWATOSA, Wis. (CBS 58) — The man accused of stealing a Wauwatosa squad car, injuring three officers and leading them on two separate pursuits is now charged.

Twenty-six-year-old Giontae Dixon of Racine faces the following charges:

  • Operating a Motor Vehicle to Flee or in an Attempt to Flee (Oak Creek)
  • Attempt Theft, Value not Exceeding $2,500 (Brown Deer)
  • Operating a Motor Vehicle to Flee or in an Attempt to Flee (Wauwatosa)
  • First Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety (Wauwatosa-3 counts)
  • Carjacking – Use or Threat of Force (Wauwatosa)
  • First Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety (Wauwatosa)
  • Vehicle Operator Flee/Elude Officer Resulting in Bodily Harm (Wauwatosa)
  • Vehicle Operator Flee/Elude Officer Causing Damage to Property (Wauwatosa)

Police say the incident began Tuesday, Feb.3, when an officer saw Dixon in the Mayfair Mall parking lot after he’d been told to leave the property. Officials say a license plate check of Dixon’s vehicle revealed he’d been involved in a domestic violence incident and pursuit with the Oak Creek Police Department earlier in the day, as well as a separate pursuit with Brown Deer law enforcement.

According to police, Dixon refused to stop for officers and a pursuit began. At one point, authorities say Dixon got out of his vehicle and into an unoccupied Wauwatosa squad car, backed it up, and knocked several officers to the ground before again taking off…
