Independence man sentenced for running over KCPD officer with ATV in 2025

An Independence man was sentenced in Jackson County court Thursday after he ran over a Kansas City police officer with an ATV during a traffic stop in 2025.

Kendall Coleman, 28, pleaded guilty Thursday to charges of second-degree assault and aggravated fleeing a stop or detention causing physical injury, according to a guilty plea document filed in Jackson County court.

Coleman was sentenced to seven years in prison for one count of second-degree assault and 12 years in prison for one count of aggravated fleeing, according to court documents. His sentences will run concurrently…
