WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Despite being postponed due to weather, the Great Plains Nature Center hosted its Kansas Day event Saturday afternoon.
On Jan. 29, 1861, Kansas entered the Union, making it the 34th state.
To celebrate, families spent the day learning about the state’s history and native wildlife, while also getting a sneak peek at what the nature center has planned this year.

“We’re also introducing our annual guides, so this is going to have all our upcoming events in it and just everything we have going on in the nature center for the next several months,” Darah Jewell, event coordinator for the nature center, said. “It’s going to be a perfect way to see what we have going on and how you can get involved too.”…
