The Picklr celebrates grand opening

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Dozens put on their athletic wear and picked up their paddles Saturday to get their pickleball on. The Picklr had its grand opening ceremony just hours ago.

Near the corner of I-40 and Eubank used to be the Conn’s Furniture Store, but now it’s a state-of-the-art pickleball facility where people can play the sport year-round. The owner of the Picklr says he’s pumped to get people of all abilities indoors and active.

“Pickleball is a sport we feel is created for all abilities, all ages. Why do we say that? It is played on a court much smaller than tennis. You use a whiffleball, so it allows for the ability to react in a different way, so it is great for someone who does not have their athletic mobility that maybe other sports would require,” said Marty Garcia, chief operating officer of The Picklr.
