According to Amsterdam Police, Bruno was born in the Czech Republic in 2013. He was purchased by the department in 2014 through community donations and partnered with officer A.J. Fiorillo.
Since then, the department reportedly utilized Bruno over 500 times for high-risk search warrants, traffic stops and crowd control. He also assisted in narcotics investigations and tracking down both suspects of serious crimes and lost individuals.
Now, Bruno boasts a variety of achievements from his 11-year career, including locating 1,500 baggies of heroin in a residence, tracking down a suspect who escaped police custody in Fonda and finding a hidden compartment inside a car containing cocaine, heroin and $13,000 in cash. He also enjoyed visiting schools, local community events and receiving pets.
Bruno will now continue to live with Fiorillo and his family. The department thanked the K-9 for his courage, service and commitment…
