Man with outstanding warrant surrenders after hour-long standoff at Lexington hotel

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – A man with outstanding warrants surrendered to police Saturday afternoon after barricading himself in a hotel room for about an hour.

Lexington police received a tip around 2:57 p.m. that Joshua Botkins was staying at an Econolodge on Athens-Boonesboro Road near I-75. Botkins had outstanding warrants for fleeing in the first degree and violation of an emergency protective order.

When officers tried to make contact with Botkins, he barricaded himself inside the room. The standoff lasted approximately one hour before Botkins came out without incident…
