At 12:58 p.m. on Sunday, the National Weather Service released an updated extreme cold warning in effect until 1 p.m. for Hudson, Essex and Union counties.
The weather service comments, “Very cold wind chills as low as 10 degrees below zero expected.”
“The cold wind chills could result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken,” explains the weather service. “Keep pets indoors as much as possible. Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills inside.”
