Hundreds participate in Frozen Assets Festival 5K on Lake Mendota

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – Hundreds of local runners braved cold temperatures Saturday morning to participate in a 5K race on Lake Mendota as part of the Frozen Assets Festival.

The annual event is sponsored by the Clean Lakes Alliance, a Madison nonprofit dedicated to local lake preservation. Organizers said they hope the festival inspires people to get involved with their mission.

“We want people to come in and understand who we are, what we’re doing and then engage with us,” said Michelle Boeder, advancement director for Clean Lakes Alliance. “We get them to move on to be the stewards in their own community and friends of ours and our mission — and maybe even volunteer with us.”…
