Actor Timothy Busfield indicted on child contact charges

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A grand jury in Bernalillo County District Court indicted actor Timothy Busfield on Friday on four counts of criminal sexual contact with a minor, as reported by KOAT-TV. Busfield, an Emmy Award winner known for roles in “Revenge of the Nerds” as Poindexter and a recurring part on “The West Wing,” faces serious allegations stemming from his time on the set of Fox’s “The Cleaning Lady.”

The indictment follows accusations by two young boys who alleged inappropriate touching by Busfield on set in Albuquerque between late 2022 and early 2024, with the case expected to proceed to trial. This development comes less than a month after Busfield’s arrest in New Mexico, where he turned himself in to authorities following a warrant issued by Albuquerque police. The prosecution will be handled by the Special Victims Unit of the Bernalillo County District Attorney’s Office.

While Busfield has publicly denied the claims, the evidence presented by prosecutors has been described as compelling by officials. This case raises broader questions about accountability and protection on film sets.
