‘Trusted and loyal’: Aiken County K9 Ace retires after 7 years

AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) – After seven years of detecting narcotics throughout Aiken County, K-9 Ace is trading his badge for a life of leisurely naps and long walks.

The 9-year-old Dutch shepherd retired from the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office Uniform Patrol Division.

Ace worked alongside Deputy Brian Ruge to intercept illicit drugs flowing into the community.

“K9 Ace was a trusted and loyal partner to his handler and shift,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement. “His presence made a lasting impact on all those who had the privilege to work alongside him.”…
