NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) — Short-term rental owners in North Charleston have until the end of the month to renew their permits or risk losing their ability to operate.
More than 600 short-term rental permit applications are up for renewal or are waiting to be approved. The city caps each of its 10 districts at 60 rentals; districts 5, 6, 8 and 10 are already over that limit.
Current permit holders must renew before the Feb. 28 deadline or their spot goes to someone on the waitlist. The city can shut down operators caught running without a permit.
