MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) -One of the greatest snowstorms in Southeastern United States history occurred February 9-11, 1973, dropping one to two feet of snow across South Carolina and establishing new all-time snowfall records across the state.
Rimini, in Orangeburg County, recorded the highest total with 24 inches, making it one of the most significant winter events ever documented in the state. The snow fell so heavily that it brought much of the state to a standstill.
