INDIANAPOLIS — The new, all-black license plate option has been a big hit for the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles.
“Hoosiers have made it clear they love the blackout license plate, with sales now topping 100,000 and generating meaningful revenue for the state,” said Keri Washabaugh, deputy commissioner of vehicle and predential policy.
Washabaugh described the simple black license plate with white letters as “a sleek, personalized option” for Hoosier drivers that also helps support BMV services by creating additional revenue for the agency.

“Because the demand has been so strong, we’re expanding access to ensure every Hoosier can take part, including offering a new blackout plate for people with disabilities that features the International Symbol of Access,” Washabaugh announced…
