SEEDS Grants To Improve West Alabama Economy

The West Alabama counties of Bibb, Perry and Walker are among 21 counties in Alabama that will be splitting $15.7 million dollars in industrial development grant money from the state. The grants are part of the third round of Site Evaluation and Economic Development Strategy (SEEDS) program funding.

Tuscaloosa County and eight other counties will share $12.7 million for activities including land purchases, as well as site clearing, grading and other preparation.

A press release from the governor’s office describes the program as being designed to strengthen Alabama’s competitiveness in securing large-scale economic development of industry-ready sites.
