Students with high fever, rash will be sent home amid Florida measles outbreak

With a recently reported measles case in Pensacola, Escambia and Santa Rosa County public schools say they will send students home if they have high fevers and/or rashes.

“Escambia County Public Schools are following the same health and safety protocols we use every day to help keep our students and staff healthy. This includes sending students home if they have a fever of 100.4 degrees or higher. Students may return to school once they have been fever free for at least 24 hours, without the use of fever-reducing medication,” said Betty Hagans, the school district’s Health Services Coordinator.

Students will also be sent home if they have a rash and can return to school once the rash has been resolved or they are cleared by a healthcare provider, she added…
