17-Year-Old Driver Faces Multiple Felony Charges After Saturday Night Stop

La VERGNE, TN (WGNS) – What started as a simple speeding stop Saturday (2/7/2026) night in La Vergne quickly turned into something far more serious. Around 9:30 p.m., officers pulled over a vehicle in the northern end of Rutherford County for traveling well above the limit. It didn’t take long for them to realize this wasn’t going to be a routine citation.

Inside the car, officers found open beer cans, a firearm, and roughly 19.2 grams of methamphetamine packaged alongside multiple baggies — the kind often associated with resale. The vehicle was occupied by two juveniles, and the 17‑year‑old behind the wheel admitted he had already consumed three beers before getting on the road.

From there, the list of charges grew quickly. The teen driver was taken into custody and charged with DUI (First Offense), Reckless Endangerment with a Weapon, Manufacture/Delivery/Sale of Methamphetamine, Driving While in Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Dangerous Felony, Possession of Unlawful Drug Paraphernalia, and Driving Without a License.
