ALEXANDRIA, VA — A group of Buddhist monks undertaking a cross-country “Walk for Peace” pilgrimage will pass through Alexandria on Monday, February 9, bringing a message of reflection, compassion, and unity to the community.

The group is expected to enter Alexandria around 9 a.m., traveling north along South Washington Street and the George Washington Parkway, before arriving at Christ Church. After a brief rest and lunch, the monks are expected to address attendees at approximately 12 p.m. Their remarks will last about 45 minutes to one hour, and members of the public are welcome to gather outside the church to listen.
To ensure the safety of participants and spectators, rolling road closures will be in place along portions of the route throughout the morning and early afternoon. In addition, Cameron Street (between Washington and Alfred streets) and Columbus Street (between King and Queen streets) will be closed from approximately 6:15 a.m. to 2 p.m. to support the peace talk…
