The Department of Homeland Security has for more than two weeks withheld the identities of the federal border agents, reportedly from Texas, who shot and killed Alex Pretti in Minnesota.
In a statement to the Chronicle, a DHS spokesperson likened a ProPublica report identifying the two agents to doxing and said releasing their identities would place their lives and families at “serious risk.” ProPublica named the shooters as Border Patrol agent Jesus Ochoa, 43, and Customs and Border Protection officer Raymundo Gutierrez, 35, both from South Texas.
