Thieves disabled West Bank drainage pumps after stealing copper wiring and diesel fuel

Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives arrested two men accused of stealing 6,400 gallons of diesel fuel and hundreds of feet of copper wiring from three pump stations that provide flood protection for a portion of the West Bank.

The men allegedly sold the stolen fuel to the owner of a marina in Jean Lafitte who was also arrested during the investigation, according to Sgt. Brandon Veal, spokesperson for the department.

Meanwhile, the damage done during the thefts left four drainage pumps inoperable for at least a week in December, according to authorities…
