Students Walk Out Of Classes In Anti-ICE Protests

More than 1,000 students in Webster Groves and Kirkwood walked out of class the morning of Friday, Jan. 30, in protest of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Students from Webster Groves High School and Kirkwood High School braved frigid temperatures — and unexcused absences — and left school Friday morning with signs bearing messages such as “Support Immigrants” and “Immigrants Built America,” walking down the streets to their respective city halls.

Roughly 1,000 students from Webster Groves High School participated, according to The Echo, the school’s student newspaper. The Kirkwood Call student newspaper reports that around 400 students participated from Kirkwood High School. Students from Nerinx Hall in Webster Groves also participated in an optional demonstration in front of the school. Students protested at Hixson Middle School, too…
