Torpedo heater allegedly caused fire in Black Rock neighborhood

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A torpedo heater being used to thaw pipes is believed by the Buffalo Fire Department to be the cause of a fire at a home on Monday.

Fire officials responded to 100 Pacific Street in the Black Rock neighborhood of Buffalo around 1:30 p.m. Monday. A fire starting on the first floor of the one and a half story residence was extinguished.

Four adults and two children were displaced by the fire and are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
