Tennessee Wings of Liberty Museum to open during Week of the Eagles in May

CLARKSVILLE, TN – The 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and Fort Campbell, in partnership with the Fort Campbell Historical Foundation and the Center of Military History, proudly announce the opening of our new Tennessee Wings of Liberty Museum on May 15, kicking off this year’s annual Week of the Eagles, May 15-21.

“This project has been years-in-the-making, and we are certain it will not disappoint,” said Jonathan Hunter, Chief Operating Officer for the Fort Campbell Historical Foundation.

The new Tennessee Wings of Liberty Museum is four times the size of Fort Campbell’s old museum and offers immersive and interactive experiences for all ages. The entrance to the new museum is located at the intersection of Tiny Town Rd. and Fort Campbell Blvd. outside the Fort Campbell installation gates, making it fully accessible to all visitors. Fort Campbell will hold a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the new museum at 10:30 am on May 15 (for invited guests), after which its doors will be open for admission to the public at 1 pm.

Week of the Eagles this year on Desert Storm

The opening of the new museum marks the start of this year’s annual Week of the Eagles celebration on Fort Campbell. First held in 1974, Week of the Eagles honors the legacy and heritage of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and involves both Veterans and current Soldiers of the Division. This year’s Week of the Eagles is dedicated to the Division’s Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm Veterans, celebrating the 35th anniversary of their successful liberation of Kuwait in 1991.

“This milestone serves as a reminder of the 101st Airborne Division’s steadfast dedication to protect and defend liberty,” said Maj. Gen. David Gardner, Commanding General of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). “There is no better way to celebrate this year’s Week of the Eagles than by opening the doors of our long-anticipated new museum and honoring our Division’s Desert Shield and Desert Storm Veterans.”…
