Ex-sheriff’s deputy pleads guilty in ‘drunken’ attack on immigrant

CLEVELAND, Ohio — A former Northeast Ohio deputy has pleaded guilty after prosecutors said he attacked a man he believed was an undocumented immigrant at a bar.

Daniel Lajack pleaded guilty Monday to one count of attempted abduction, a fourth-degree felony, in Medina County Court of Common Pleas.

On April 26, 2024, Lajack and his co-defendant Donald Kopchak were accused of attacking a truck driver they believed was an undocumented immigrant while at Buzzards Roost bar in Hinckley Township.
