(WJET/WFXP) — The ANNA Shelter’s busy start to 2026 kept going this weekend, helping state police remove 72 animals from a local property that they said were all forced to share a one-acre pen.
According to the shelter, those 72 animals were kept in the pen with no shelter, food, water, hay or any kind of bedding, with Pennsylvania State Police investigating.
Locals raise questions about animal cruelty leniency after high-profile cases
In total, the ANNA Shelter said they took in 61 goats, 7 donkeys, 2 horses and 2 dogs, all of which are receiving treatment at their facilities for medical needs ranging from mild to major, and hope to see them all adopted once the case is resolved.
While the investigation takes place, the shelter is asking the public for a little bit of help with getting the necessary supplies to take proper care of the animals.
They’re asking for: “wall hay feeders for the goat stalls; Tractor Supply or Amazon gift cards; monetary donations to help cover vet and farrier costs; good vibes, warm wishes and lots of prayers!” they said in a Facebook post.
