(KRON) — There is major police activity in the area of 29th and Summit Streets in Oakland Monday. The Oakland Police Department told KRON4 that there is a possible active shooter at the Summit Crest Apartments at 2801 Summit Drive.
7 shot, 2 killed in downtown San Jose shootings Sunday
Police told KRON4 that they responded Monday morning before 10:30 a.m. after getting multiple ShotSpotter notifications and that a suspect ran into the apartment complex and may have barricaded himself in a residence with a firearm.
Oakland PD officers secured the area and evacuated residents.
Police initially told KRON4 the suspect had been shooting from the building. There is no immediate word on whether anyone has been injured.
Video from the scene shows a large police presence in the area. OPD said that officers are attempting to communicate with the suspect and that the investigation remains active…
