Tennessee animal shelter overcrowding prompts rescue flights from Knoxville to other states

WHITE COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) – Animal shelters across Tennessee are struggling with overcrowding, prompting organizations to transport animals to other states where they can find homes.

The White County Animal Shelter was almost double capacity last month, according to manager Brooke Childress. Tennessee ranks among the top five states for transporting animals to other shelters.

“If we could get them spayed and neutered, we wouldn’t be overpopulated with dogs right now,” Childress said…
