Landlord leaves Rockford woman without water for 8 months; now faces homelessness

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — A Rockford woman is without a livable home after the Winnebago County Health Department condemned her rental home. Tenant Gina Salerno had been living without running water for eight months prior to the department’s intervention.

“This is not easy knowing that any day I could be homeless,” Salerno said.

Documents from the Winnebago County Health Department show the water was shut off after the landlord, Ammar Barazi, failed to pay a delinquent bill of nearly $1,000, 979.86 to be exact.
