First Alert: Tracking today’s snow storm, set to move in this evening

Another round of snow is on the way, but this one doesn’t seem to pull any punches.

A fairly even swath of two to four inches is expected, with some spots in southern New Hampshire and in the Merrimack Valley getting slightly more. Forecast trends show that most of us will see off and on snow, but to the north the snow is mostly on rather than off.

When will the snow start?

We’ll see the first flakes move down the Pike from Springfield to Boston — starting around 3 p.m. in the west and arriving between 4 and 5 p.m. here.

How long will the snow last?

The last bits of snow will tail off just after midnight, so the morning commute should be ok for travel as the skies clear before dawn. There still may be some slick spots, so travel with caution and prepare for solar glare off freshly fallen snow…
