“Proud to represent the Charlotte community,” Local Food Lion manager named chain’s manager of the year

CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — “I didn’t just manage a store; I grew with it,” Charlotte Food Lion manager Amelia Barton said upon being awarded Food Lion’s Manager of the Year.

Barton is a store manager at the location on the 2200 block of W. WT Harris Blvd, where she’s been since she started as a cashier while in high school in 2013. Barton was selected from a group of more than 1,100 store managers.

The Ralph W. Ketner Store Manager Excellence Award is named after one of the chain’s founders. It recognizes exceptional store managers who “enrich the lives of Food Lion’s customers, associates and communities they serve,” officials said.

“To my team, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Leadership isn’t about doing everything yourself; it’s about empowering others, and I am incredibly proud of my team. We’re not just stocking shelves, we’re nourishing our neighbors and setting them up for success in life.
