Village Corner Comfort Kitchen & Bar, a downtown Concord go-to for all-day breakfast and lingering weekend brunches, served its last plates on Sunday, Feb. 8 after six years in business. Owner Ryan Bybee said the team could not dig out from recent financial hits, calling the final stretch “an incredible struggle” as longtime regulars flooded social media with farewells and praise while the restaurant’s listings quietly flipped to closed, as reported by Charlotte Obsever.
According to the Charlotte Observer, Bybee shared on Instagram that the restaurant “could not overcome the loss of business” and that staff had chased other options before ultimately accepting the shutdown. The Observer noted that Village Corner’s lineup ranged from all-day breakfast to Cajun pasta, shrimp and grits, and lunchtime standbys like chicken Caesar wraps, smash burgers, and BLTs, and that the restaurant had operated for six years before closing this past weekend.
A community GoFundMe created to support the restaurant says two winter storms wiped out key weekend service and cost Village Corner roughly $26,000 in lost revenue, a gap the organizers say the business could not bridge. The fundraiser includes a note from Bybee that reads, “The last 2 weeks have been an incredible struggle,” and urges neighbors to show up for one last weekend sendoff, according to GoFundMe. Campaign organizers say donations were meant to help cover staff wages and repairs as the team wrapped up operations.

The restaurant’s Uber Eats page and other directories now mark the spot as unavailable, and the Corner listing for the business, last updated in December, reflects the end of day-to-day service at that address. Bybee also operates Beef & Brine Steakhouse in Concord, according to the Charlotte Observer. Neighbors say they are pulling for the Village Corner crew to land on their feet while they replay memories of corner-table breakfasts, birthday dinners, and lazy brunches that helped anchor the block…
