Out of everywhere in the United States, Orange County, California really has a reputation for being extra kind to animals. People there don’t just walk past a stray and shrug, they step in, and because of that, a whole lot of dogs and cats have gotten a second chance thanks to a community that actually pays attention.
Happy endings pop up all the time, and they usually start the same way: someone spots an animal that clearly needs help. That’s exactly what happened when Arturo Flores and Lou Dora, both volunteers with a cat care group, noticed a tiny head poking out from behind a pillar.
From far away, they figured it was probably a scared little cat. But the closer they got, the clearer it became they had it wrong. It wasn’t a cat at all, it was a dog, and she was waiting for someone to show up for her.
